House Policies

House rules implemented to make the Community Center a safe and fun place for everyone

 1.  No smoking inside or in the immediate vicinity of the Center. Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of the exterior of the Center. A smoking area has been designated near the large oak tree in front of the Center. This policy has been implemented for the following reasons:

♦  To preserve the paint work on the ceilings and walls as well as to preserve the furniture inside the Community Center.

♦  To allow visitors to enter, exit and reside within the Center without having to breath in second hand smoke.

2.  No Animals will be allowed inside the Community Center, with the exception of Service Animals.  This policy has been implemented with approval from Fire Chief George Lucia, for the following reasons:

♦   To uphold standard health codes. While the board acknowledges the Center is not a restaurant, we do anticipate that from time to time the kitchen will be used for holding, heating and limited cooking & preparation of foods for Community events and fundraisers. We wish also to ensure a clean and healthy kitchen area for individuals who use the kitchen on an intermittent or ongoing basis.

♦   To preserve the furniture and floors inside the Center from any  unintentional animal ‘messes’ and to protect them from exposure to any  possible germs/bacteria/diseases that animals might be capable of  carrying.

♦      To accommodate any visitors to the center who might have mild or severe allergic reactions to, or a fear or dislike of, certain animals.

♦  To limit the Fire Boards/CCPMs liability with regard to possible insurance claims of bodily/personal injury, should any animal on the premises, cause harm or damage to any person or any persons property, including property owned by the CCPM.

3. No Meetings Downstairs. The downstairs meeting area has been temporarily closed for use.

♦  It was brought to the Boards attention that the staircase between the upper and lower level may not be built to code. Until such time as this can be confirmed and/or corrected, it is in the best interest of Center visitors, users, and The Fire Board (who are responsible for the insurance for the Community Center) to discontinue use of the staircase to anyone not covered by Fire Dept liability/compensation insurance.

Please note: this is a temporary measure being taken to ensure personal safety. The makings of an alternative outside pathway and stoop are underway so that access to the downstairs meeting area will be possible in the near future.

4.   No Private Functions. The Community Center will not be available for hire or rent as a private function venue.

♦  For insurance and liability reasons, an agreement was reached between the Fire Board and CCPM Board with regard to private functions at the Center. It was agreed that gatherings in the Center will be limited to community based events, small residential and community gatherings, and small groups of residents/locals. The Center remains FREE of charge until further notice.
